As men, we need to understand that some women may experience "that time of the month." differently. Menstrual cycles to this day quite often are misunderstood. I want to give some tips to help other men learn how to support the special women/woman in their lives while on their menstrual cycle. These significant items will help care for the special lady in your life to make their "time of the month" feel less stressful for her.
6 Ways to Support Your Partner During Her Period
- Warm Beverages: A warm beverage of either tea or water can help. Preferably beverages with no caffeine will do the trick. Warm drinks with Peppermint help in calming cramps.
- Hot Bath - Running a warm bath with a sprinkle of bath salt will ease cramping. Remember, relaxation and some alone time to themselves will alleviate stress. The idea is about helping alleviate distress during their cycle.
- Snacks: Stay away from the typical cravings of salty food or chocolate. Foods with salt in them will worsen cramps. Instead, try using Strawberries or mangos as a substitute for sugar cravings.
- Essential oils - Using essential oils such as Lavender to Jojoba oil aid in de-stressing. Also, massaging the essential oil onto their abdomen is soothing. I did mention that Peppermint is excellent at calming and easing pain.
- Heating Pad - It all comes back to heat. Warmth around the body helps slow down the pain. Applying the heating pad to their lower back or stomach is excellent in slowing down pain from cramps.
- Relaxation - A good amount of rest does the trick. Quiet time at home where they don't have to do anything but lay down is helpful. The most important aspect of caring for the wonderful women/woman in your life is letting them rest.
Talking about menstrual cycles shouldn't be uncomfortable. But remember to keep things calm. Menstrual cycles for some women are excruciatingly painful. The important thing is focusing on relaxation and understanding what women go through during "that time of the month."
