Another Career Change? Queens Can Play The Field, Too.

Another Career Change? Queens Can Play The Field, Too.

Hey, Queens!

Today I wanna talk about changing your field and moving on to a different career. I get it, this can be a scary and intimidating transition, especially when you have been in one field for so long or trying out a different one that is a completely unchartered and unfamiliar territory for you. Yet, playing the field until you find the right position (no pun intended) for you can be fun and also worth while. Take it from me, business and marketing (which I fell in love with) is my fourth career change! I always had a passion for writing, ever since I was a kid. I never knew that I could use writing as a tool and even in my career. I never understood or knew its value. It all seemed to work out and come full circle after four career changes. I am now doing what I loved all along. Funny how that works out, huh? It is never too late to find yourself and do what you want to do.

Are you going through something similar? You may not know you are going through it. I sure didn’t until I found the right fit for me. When searching for the right fit in your career it is important to keep in mind certain things to optimize your chances of finding your perfect match. Be honest with yourself and know your boundaries. However, do not limit yourself either.

ASPECTS TO CONSIDER WHEN SEARCHING FOR THE RIGHT CAREER (FOR YOU)

  1. Know yourself and be selfish: Know what you like and dislike, your strengths and your weaknesses, and passions. Be honest with yourself and with others. If something is right for you, it is okay to say "no thank you" respectfully and voice your needs too. Be selfish, in a good way. Know the value you bring and what may or may not be a good fit. Life is too short to do something that you don’t enjoy doing.
  2. Do what feels right: if you don’t feel comfortable in a profession or if certain practices or ideologies conflict with your ethics or morals, then you probably should reconsider that field.
  3. Compensation and Salary: Money isn’t everything. But earning a fair salary for your hard work and value is absolutely necessary. And we all got bills to pay amirite? We want to make a living and also provide for our families. It is important to know you worth. Learning how to negotiate your salary can make all the difference too.
  4. Have a Plan: Think about what you are doing now and how it may or may not align with your long term professional goals. Having a plan is important, Queen. So is your time!

Life is a journey and it is an exciting one! Go out there and play the field. Choose what is right for you, be patient with yourself, and keep the faith. Make the most of and embrace your journey. We are always rooting for you.

To your success, health, and happiness!
